Kulturbrauerei – a uniquely beautiful starting point.
Our bike tours start in an industrial monument – the 120-year-old brick architecture of the former Schultheiss Brewery is a sight in itself.
Own bike guide training
Every year we train additional guides in an 8-week seminar – a training course especially for our bike tours. Our newcomers go on tour with you with fresh energy, certified Berlin knowledge and their personal history.
Enthusiasm for our city
Whether starting as a newcomer guide or having been on the tour for years – we are all united by our enthusiasm for Berlin, which we want to pass on to our guests. Even if we are critical of architecture and local politics.
Personal touch
The Berlin on Bike guides give the tours a personal touch. Their own history and personal experience are combined with the roughly predetermined route and the respective tour theme as well as the interests of the guests to create an individual experience.
More than just the highlights of the city
We show more than just historical monuments and modern architecture. The Kulturbrauerei is surrounded by one of Berlin’s typical old building districts. You will experience the homely yet urban atmosphere in the streets lined with stucco facades. Between cafés and small shops, you’ll find the inviting neighbourhood atmosphere that makes Berlin such a great place to live.
Tour start away from the hustle and bustle and traffic noise
In the spacious courtyards of the former brewery grounds there is enough room for a relaxed introduction and safety briefing, even if several tours start at the same time. Before the tour, our guests and especially children have the opportunity to extensively test the bikes away from the traffic.
Suitable offers for families
No matter how old your children are, we have suitable vehicles available. Whether it’s a child trailer with a baby seat, child seats, tag-alongs or children’s bikes in various sizes, with derailleur gears or back pedal brakes, and of course matching helmets. There are also special tours tailored to families with smaller children.
Experience since 2004
We started small, 17 years ago, with just 16 bikes. Today we have expanded to having more than 500 bikes, and with that expansion has come years of experience guiding thousands of people from all over the world around Berlin. Our programme has grown with our size and experience. Now, for example, we offer tours like ‘Oasis of the City’ that allow our best guides to present their favourite places in Berlin with passion and flare.
Individually developed tour programs
If you’re looking for something in particular, just ask us. We’ve created all kinds of tours to suit individual needs, such as when we took chefs around on bikes to explore culinary Berlin, or helped families looking for a flat to explore different parts of the city. The possibilities are endless.
Safety – 17 years without severe accidents
In the past 17 years we have had no serious personal injury caused by a collision with a motor vehicle on any of our tours. And that with as many as 80 000 cycling guests every year. Every tour starts with a safety briefing. Our guides are specially trained to ensure optimal route design and we currently have a clear Corona safety and hygiene plan in place.
Long-distance trekking bikes
Our fleet consists mainly of trekking bikes with 21-speed derailleur gears. 3 permanent mechanics take care of maintenance and regularly replace worn parts – preempting mechanical breakdowns whilst on tour. Every year, we have many satisfied guests who rent bikes from us for tours all the way to the Baltic Sea. If you prefer back-pedalling bikes, we have those too.
Bicycle delivery to the hotel
Whether you want to cycle with a small group or are planning an event with up to 400 participants – we can also deliver the bikes to a place of your choice, e.g. to the hotel, and collect them again at the end of the tour, for an additional charge.
Customer friendly cancellation policy
You can cancel your reservation for a public tour up to 24 hours in advance – any money already paid will be refunded promptly. Group bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 4 weeks in advance (except for events with 40 or more people). And currently there is a free special cancellation for groups with Corona related problems up to 24 hours before the start of the tour.
Visit our neighbours
Right next door in the Kulturbrauerei is the exhibition “Everyday Life in the GDR”, organised by the renowned Haus der Geschichte (House of History) in Bonn. Admission is free, and the museum also hosts changing photographic exhibitions. In addition, there are two beer gardens and a billiards parlour on the grounds, as well as a tourist information office. On Sundays, you can visit the popular street food market on the grounds or the flea market in Mauerpark, just one kilometre away.
