The Berlin Wall Bike Tour for School Groups

Quick Details

Encountering the living places where German history took place

For most of today’s generation of school kids, the division of Germany and the Cold War is as far away as the Stone Age. Yet the impact of the Cold War on our contemporary world is still everywhere to be felt, and making the connection between our present and that past is a powerful experience for students visiting Berlin.

On this tour we follow the course of the Berlin Wall from Mauerpark to the Government District. We look back to the Second World War to find out what caused the division of Germany. And we explore the special situation in Berlin in the postwar era, as well as the living conditions in both German states as they drifted apart over the 28 years of the Wall’s existence, until its fall in 1989.
