Nature Meets History: A Green Bike Tour

Did you know Berlin is one of Europe’s greenest cities? Nearly a third of the capital is covered by parks, forests, and waterways. – Starting at the historic Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg, we’ll pedal through the lively streets of Wedding, into Pankow – a neighbourhood that surprises with idyllic retreats and grand architecture.

On quiet residential streets, we arrive first at Mauerpark, a former part of the Berlin Wall, now a local spot for hanging out and relaxing.  From there we continue to Volkspark Humboldthain, where a hill made of World War II rubble offers sweeping views of the city. Along the way, pockets of green emerge between dense urban neighborhoods – parks, community gardens and innovative sustainability projects.

Berlin Beyond the Bustle: Art and Sustainability

Former industrial sites and historical courtyards have become havens for art and culture. Among them are the Gerichtshöfe, Wiesenburg, and a former tram depot on Uferstraße – now home to artists, studios and creative collectives

The Panke River winds through the city, slowly reclaiming some of its natural course after centuries of being straightened, diverted and built over. We follow its path from former West Berlin into the East where we reach the Majakowskiring—a quiet, villa-lined street once home to East Germany’s political elite. Nearby Schönhausen Palace, dating back to the 17th century, has hosted figures like Fidel Castro and Mikhail Gorbachev.

Just a short ride from the stately palace grounds, Bürgerpark Pankow offersa more laid-back vibe with open meadows, a petting zoo and open-air concerts in the rose garden.
