Why a Berlin Bike Tour Is the Best Way to Explore the City
There are many ways to discover Berlin’s famous sights and history. From the water you only see what’s along the riverbank. On foot, your range stays fairly limited. And on a bus you stick to the main routes. There’s no better way to feel the real Berlin than on a guided bike tour.
On an urban bike tour, you experience Berlin with all your senses — biking through the city at an easy pace, with time to pause for photos and unexpected views. We take you behind the scenes, ride past major landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, and sometimes even peek into one of Berlin’s famous courtyards. Berlin is a cycling city: flat, spread out, and bike-friendly, it’s how many locals get around every day.
What You’ll See on a Bike Tour of Berlin
Whether you want to ride past Berlin’s Top Highlights, follow the traces of The Berlin Wall, explore Alternative Neighbourhoods like Kreuzberg, or discover Green Spaces and Gardens, the city looks different from the saddle. You’ll experience Berlin’s contrasts: history and everyday life, elegance and edge, side by side.
Cycling in Berlin isn’t just good for the environment and your health — it’s often the memory that stays with you long after your trip.

How do I book a bike tour through Berlin — and can I see availability right away?
Yes. In our public tour calendar and on each tour page, available dates are marked in green.
Pick your date and start time, enter your details, and complete online payment. You’ll then receive a booking confirmation with everything you need for your bike tour.
If you are with a group, private tours with your own guide can be booked online as well, or requested here: private Berlin bike tour.
How can I pay for my bike tour through Berlin?
All bookings are paid securely online. We accept common payment methods such as credit cards, PayPal and other standard online payment options.
Once payment is complete, your spot on the tour is confirmed right away.
Can I book last-minute, for example for today or tomorrow?
Often yes. If spots are available, you can book our public bike tours online up to 60 minutes before they start. If it’s even more last-minute, please call us: +49 (0)30 4373 9999. Check current availability in our public tour calendar.
Should I join a public tour or book a private bike tour?
On a public tour, you’ll ride with a small group of other guests — fun, social, and you may pick up extra ideas from fellow travelers.
A private guided bike tour is best if you want something tailored: more kid-friendly, flexible pace, custom route, extra stops, and a start time that fits your Berlin trip perfectly.

What’s included when I book a Berlin Bike Tour?
Rental bikes, your guide, and bicycle helmets are included. Depending on the weather, we also offer free rain ponchos, gloves, and sunscreen on site.
Can I join a tour with my own bike?
Yes! You can select that during online booking. You pay 5 Euro less if you bring your own bike. Just make sure your bicycle is roadworthy and safe.
How long are your Berlin bike tours, and how far do we ride?
Most of our public bike tours in English last about 3.5 hours, typically covering 12–15 km.
About half the time is spent cycling, the other half on stops and stories along the way – with time for photos, context and local Berlin tips.
On a private tour, you can choose the duration.
Will we stop for lunch?
We don’t schedule a full lunch break during the tour. Usually guests eat before or after the tour as that gives us more time to explore Berlin by bike.
That said, we usually stop for a coffee along the way, where you can grab a small snack if you like.
After the tour, we’re happy to point you to a few great lunch spots nearby.
Do I need to be very fit or an experienced cyclist to join one of your tours?
Not at all. Berlin is mostly flat, and our tours are designed for relaxed, comfortable biking.
We usually cover about 12–15 km, with regular stops for explanations, questions, and photos. No special fitness is needed, and most guests find the ride very manageable. Kids from around 10 years old usually do great too.
Want it even easier? You can add an e-bike during booking.
Are guided bike tours in Berlin suitable for families and kids?
If your kids love biking and can ride a bike — yes! Berlin is flat and has a great cycling infrastructure.
We provide kids’ bikes in sizes 20”, 24” and 26”. For children 9 or younger, we recommend tag-alongs, trailers, or child seats. A private bike tour is our most flexible family option.
Can I reserve an e-bike for my bike tour?
Yes — you can add e-bikes when booking online. The surcharge is €20 per e-bike. Often you can still upgrade on-site.
Where do we meet for the Berlin Bike Tour, and how do we get there?
All public tours start at the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg. The best entrance is Knaackstraße 97, about a 3-minute walk from Eberswalder Straße (U2). For full directions check here: Meeting point & directions.
How early should I arrive before the tour starts?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and to find a bike that fits you well. Families with small kids should come a bit earlier so everyone can get familiar with their bike before we get on our way.
What do I need to bring / wear for the bike tour?
Dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Good shoes are a smart idea.
Bring:
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• A camera or phone for great photos
• Curiosity for Berlin
We’ll take care of the rest. We provide sunscreen, bike helmets and rain ponchos for free. Trouser clips and water bottles are available on site for a small charge (cash only).
As a general tip: while many places accept cards, smaller bakeries, cafés or Spätis (Berlin’s late-night corner shops) sometimes prefer cash, so having a few euros in your pocket is never a bad idea.
Where can I store my luggage during the bike tour?
Small items will fit in the bike baskets, for example: a water bottle, jacket, camera, or small backpack.
You can store bigger luggage like suitcases or large backpacks at our office during the tour so you can enjoy the ride comfortably.
What languages are the guided bike tours available in? Do you offer tours in English?
Yes, of course. Public tours are available in English, Dutch and German. You can also book private tours in French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Russian, and Danish (depending on availability).
How many people are in a typical bike tour group?
Most groups have around 6–10 people; we try not to exceed 13 guests per guide.
Public tours run with a minimum of 4 participants — once we reach that number, the tour will definitely take place.
For private bike groups of 16 or more, we recommend splitting into two or more groups and riding with multiple guides — to keep the tour safe, personal, and enjoyable for everyone.
Is cycling in Berlin safe for first-time visitors?
Yes, Berlin is very bike-friendly. On our bike tours through Berlin, we avoid busy main roads and use quieter side streets, bike lanes, biking streets and parks. Our expert guides lead you along carefully selected routes so you can experience the city safely.
Do you provide bicycle helmets — and do I have to wear one?
We provide bike helmets for free in different sizes, including kids’ helmets. Wearing a helmet is optional for most guests.
For school groups, helmets may be required depending on school trip regulations.
What happens if it rains? Do the bike tours still run in bad weather?
We run our tours even in mixed weather. For short showers, we provide free eco-friendly rain ponchos and stay flexible with covered stops and the option for short café breaks.
In persistent rain, you can cancel or reschedule for free up to 90 minutes before the tour starts if you booked directly with us. If you book via a platform, that platform’s cancellation policy applies.
When is the best time of year for a bike tour in Berlin?
Our public tours run daily from mid-March to mid-November.
We also offer a limited public tour schedule in winter. Outside the peak summer months, just dress warm and enjoy a less crowded Berlin. You can find current dates in our public tour calendar.
Can I reschedule or cancel if my plans change?
Yes. For public tours, rescheduling and cancellations are free up to 24 hours before the start.
In case of bad weather, it’s even possible up to 90 minutes before the tour begins; nobody has to ride in miserable conditions.
Will I get personal Berlin tips, or just historical facts?
You’ll get both. Our guides love sharing personal recommendations for restaurants, exhibitions, and ideas for the evening, especially helpful if you’re travelling to Berlin for several days. Along the way, they also share stories from Berlin’s history, from Prussian kings and palaces to Nazi Germany, World War II, Cold War Berlin, to today.
