How it all started
Some friends from New Zealand came to visit us. Of course we made sure we got them bikes so we could show them Berlin. We took them on a different route every day and showed them the things about Berlin we love and find interesting. They were rapt. After their stay we realised that our friends had seen the city in a way most visitors to the city would never get to experience. The idea for Berlin on Bike was born.
Over the course of the past year, visitors to Berlin responded so enthusiastically to our bike tours that 29 German newspapers decided to see what all the fuss was about. Without exception, their journalists were impressed.
The Berlin on Bike Team
Wollo
Globe trotting native Berliner
Wollo has been everywhere and done all kinds of things: a degree in journalism, trained as a tour guide, worked as a journalist, party organiser, chauffeur and bus driver. He knows Berlin like the back of his hand. He founded Berlin on Bike in 2004.
Martin

Office, Sport and Tours
For a change, he’s actually doing what he’s trained for – tourism. He makes sure everything runs smoothly in the office, but is also out and about with the tours. Likes playing basketball, loves to travel and recently did a mountain bike tour in Ecuador.
Baldur

The historian
Baldur is actually a History graduate from the renowned Humbolt University. He reckons “History is often indiscernible from satire.” With the hard facts and a good shot of humour he presents a capital city that is always somehow trying to surpass itself.
Vera

Public Relations & Bike Guide
Vera studied South East Asian Studies and loves travelling to far-off places to absorb herself in other cultures. For Berlin on Bike she communicates with the Press and Berlin Hotels. With her communication talent and effervescent energy she accompanies our guests through the big city jungle.
Judy

A very charming Kreuzberger we manage to coax into Prenzlauer Berg and even into showing guests the rest of Berlin. Judy knows her stuff and makes an adventurous four hours fly by.
Dide

Dide (pronounced Deedda) came from the Netherlands to Berlin and fell in love with it. Now she shows people her chosen hometown with inspiration and enthusiasm in English, German and, of course, in Dutch.
Mathias

Mathias (pronounced Matt-ee-us) works as a travel guide for sport and adventure tours in Asia, Latin America and elsewhere. He’s a real born and bred East Berliner who comes home every summer so that his son gets to see a bit of his Daddy.
